My New License Plate

                          Mercury will compel me to make a decision which I will change in a few days anyway.  It is not to buy a Mercury(Do they make them anymore?) but a 1976 shiny yellow Corvette with a new engine and back end.  It's been sitting at a house with a for Sale sign on the Corvette since early this month.  Once or twice the For Sale sign was down so i assumed it was sold.  It still lurks tempting me.  I said if my house ever gets painted and repaired, I'd buy it.  I didn't.  There is still time but I have to move back to my house when the renter's lease is up because I need the garage.  All the For Sale houses are sold over here where I'm trying to sell my townhouse.  Probably because they are all short sales or 1989 prices when they were built.

FIVE MINUTES AFTER I READ MY HOROSCOPE, I CAN'T REMEMBER WHAT IT SAYS

                                                 My horoscope says to not let frustration warp my good judgment. I should blow off steam now before I explode later.   Preemptive bursts of emotion are better than a meltdown.  I guess my guru used to work at a power plant.  I have felt explosive and have done a few pre-emptive strikes to thwart acomplete assault.
 
                                          Some of it worked.  But one never knows.  Does one?  I had to reread the horoscope before I could remember it.  As soon as I read something else, I forget what I read previously.  I saw the play "Twelve Angry Men" last night  At first they all want to convict the 20 year old of patricide.  Eventually They all decide there is reasonable doubt and acquit him.  It reminded when I was an alternate juror.  the lawyers were interviewing the 12 angry men and woman to for jury selection.  I found when the next potential juror was questionned, I would forget what the first one said.  Thank Heavens I never had to determine someone's fate.
                                           Who writes these horoscopes?  How many people in America even know what preemptively means?

HAY QUE PONER EL PATIO!

                                       My entrance patio is looking good since I had the old bench,table and chairs painted black.  It took days to sand,prime with a rust inhibitor and paint them.  The patio now has a fresh clean look.  The watering system is working well now.  My large pot of Mums have come back to life and are blooming alot of maroon daisy like flowers.  I bought them half dead at a discount.  They almost completely died here.  I put them in a corner and they revived after a month or two.  I think they had too much water .
                                            My back patio on the sixth green looks good too.   Thee's lots of greenery and a few Impatiens,Petunia and Begonias.  The watering system doesn't always hit the whole garden.   So I try to put the flowers where the sprinklers are watering.  That's the gardening report for 2012 except I have four potted OSU Blueberry tomato plants.  They taste like tomatoes but have the anti-oxident capabilities of blueberries.  They will be dark in color.  We thought it was Ohio State University but it's Oklahoma which is OK by me.

Go With The Flow

A rocket blasts off near Titusville tonight at around 7:30 pm..  It's the first launch in 2012.

                             Take it easy.  Go with the flow. Someone else is calling the shots.  Who?  So goes my mysterious horoscope.  I always go with the flow.  You must pick your fights.  You can pick your nose and pick your friends.  But you can't pick your friend's nose.

TAKE CARE OF BUSINESS

                             I can still take care of my responsibilities and be creative.  Why a horoscope would encourage that is beyond me?  Is it only Librans who should be creative?  Any way after breathing in exhaust fumes from the leaf blower just used on the green 10 feet from my kitchen door, I'm off to the lumber Store.  Oy vey!

TAKE A HIKE

                             I hiked the Cruikshank Trail with the Florida Trails hiking group.  It's five miles long in a loop around a pond at the end of the Seven Mile Black Poiont Drive in the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge in Titusville,Florida.  We saw some egrets and coots trying to stay warm on a cold, windyu but sunny Central Florida winter day.  Driving out of the refuge later we saw a 15 ft alligator sunning on an island in a pond.
                              On the Cruikshank you see nothing but wide open spaces and vistas.  I guess that's worth an anuual 5 mile walk.  There is more wildlife at the local sports bars as the patrons liquor up for the football play offs leading up to Super Bowl Sunday than at the Refuge usually.  Still we march on and are tired at the end but relieved it was a cool rather than asweltering Florida day in the blazing sun.
                                A group dinner at Dixie Crossraods in Titusville owned by a fisherwoman and naturalist Laura Thompson who started the Brevard Bird Festival.  The festival held at Brevard Community College in Titusville,Florida every January is one of the best attended in the nation.    Almost all the Florida Trails hikers had the restaurant's specialty which is Rock Shrimp.  They are little crustaceans grillled with butter tasting like lobster and looking like shrimp.  It costs $12 and is basically an appetizer plus hush puppies(corn fritters) and cole slaw or cheese grits or vegetables.  The Bermuda Fish Stew is excellent and can be a side with basket for $12 or dinner with two sides for $15.  The service was quick and efficient  in a delightful open windowed party room.  The entire restaurant is decorated with fantastic flora,fauna and fish pictures by Al Rao, the local Titusville muralist.
                          Many of the hikers were going out the next day to hike 5 miles at a nature preserve along the St. John's River (which looks like a swamp)   on Rte 46 outside of North Titusville on the way to Geneva, Florida and just past the Jolly Gator Fish Camp.  Florida Trails has hiking groups throughout Florida with a hike once or twice a  week.  This group was centered in the Orlando area.  Most of the participants are women.

EATING AT BUFFETS MAKES YOU FAT

                              BEING FAT IS CAUSED BY OVEREATING AND NOT EXERCISING. PEOPLE THINK IF YOU GO TO A BUFFET AND ONLY EAT LARGE QUANTITIES OF PROTEIN(AKA MOSTLY  FAT) INSTEAD OF CARBOHYDRATES THAT YOU WON'T GET FAT.  IF YOU DON' EXERCISE AND EAT A LOT YOU'LL GAIN WEIGHT.  THE ONLY THING LOW IN CALORIES ARE VEGETABLES.   DESSERTS ARE INCREDIBLY HIGH IN CALORIES AS IS BREAD,CHIPS AND CRACKERS.  MAINLY THEY ARE WAISTED (WASTED) CALORIES SINCE THEY ARE GENERALLY LOW IN NUTRITIONAL VALUE.
                               On LOSEIT.COM, they calculate  calories consumed and then burned.  They determine if you are under or over your daily calorie limit factoring in exercise.  They don't evaluate your diet for healthiness just calories.  The number of recommended daily calories is determined by your height and amount of weight you want to lose.  They determine the daily calorie intake and amount of time it will take to lose the desired weight in a sensible manor.

 IT WORKS IF YOU WORK IT.  SO WORK IT.  YOU'RE WORTH IT!

                               I was supposed to eat 1500 calories a day(or more if I exercised) to lose 40 pounds in a year.  Somehow since I moved to my winter house and am using another computer, I can't record my daily calories and exercise.  BUT BOTTOM LINE IS YOU JUST DO IT.  SO IT'S JUSTDOIT.COM REALLY.
