KNISH-CORNER DELI IN THE BRONX |
We finally made it to the new Yankee Stadium two years late on an incredibly hot June day for a day game versus the Atlanta Braves. First we had a pastrami sandwich, a knish and a chocolate egg cream at the Corner Deli next to the massive Bronx Courthouse. Even more sedate and enormous sits the new stadium nearby. We sat in one of the highest rows under an overhang so a Bronx breeze would caress the back of our necks during the game. The Yankees lost after many home runs but it was fun anyway. The old stadium is now a green park. All that remains is the giant baseball bat.

NEVER FORGET 9/11 |
It's kind of like Ground Zero. When something new is built finally and the remains of the past are removed or memorialized, you start to forget. I lamented the destruction of the House That Ruth Built. I morn the demise by the terrorists of 3000 people in the Twin Towers of The World Trade Center in New York City. My husband the Yankee fan finally went to Fenway Park during it's 100th year. At least in the Bronx, the ornate over multi-statued Bronx Courthouse remains and you can still get a good pastrami sandwich nearby. Now if only the heat wave had waited until July and the Yankees had won with all those homers.
